AIS Insights is an Association for Information Systems initiative designed to project insights from academic research to practice, using AI to extract relevant information from scholarly articles for professional audiences.
Practice benefits from science in sharpening understanding and supporting better decision-making. Science, in turn, has both a responsibility and an opportunity to address real-world challenges. AIS Insights aims to bring rigorous scientific research to life as clear, accessible insights, breaking down barriers across research-practice divides, languages, and regions.
AIS Insights produces three types of output:
Content is available in Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish.
AIS Insights is currently in a pilot phase. The service is provided free of charge by the participating institutions, with the goal of testing, evaluating, and, if successful, establishing a permanent version of the service.
The Association for Information Systems (AIS) provides the institutional framework for the community as the initiative behind AIS Insights.
The AI engine is provided and continuously developed by Living Knowledge, a team of researchers passionate about AI solutions for knowledge management.
The University of Münster, its Center for Information Technology (CIT), and the European Research Center for Information Systems (ERCIS) provide the secure infrastructure for the pilot, including an on-premise private cloud and a local high-performance computing cluster.
Insights are Human-AI-Generated: the AI produces an initial draft, the article's authors review and edit it, and AIS Insights editors check and approve the final version before publication. Each insight is an original, independently created synthesis of the source material, not a verbatim reproduction, and is linked back to its source article. Readers are encouraged to report any errors they find. This approach is in line with AIS's Statement on the Use of AI in Research.
AIS Insights uses open-source large language models and audio-generation models to automatically extract, structure, and translate insights from published research articles into text, podcast, and graphical formats. These models run entirely on the infrastructure described above, under AIS oversight; no third-party or commercial AI services are used to process article content.

AIS Insights is provided on an as-is, as-available basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including as to accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Neither AIS, Living Knowledge, the University of Münster, nor ERCIS shall be liable for any damages arising from use of the service.
